Waitstaff FAQ
Everything you need to know about booking our professional event servers.
What tasks do waitstaff and food servers handle?
Our servers handle front-of-house guest services. This includes buffet monitoring, tray passing appetizers, plated dinner service, pouring water and table wine, clearing plates, managing food station cleanup, and taking out trash. Please note that we do not prepare or cook food, but we work alongside caterers to handle service details.
How many servers do I need for my event?
For buffet style dining, we generally recommend one server for every 25 to 30 guests to maintain the buffet area and clear plates. For seated, plated dinner services, we suggest one server for every 15 to 20 guests to guarantee hot food delivery and premium pacing. Read our complete server staffing guide for a detailed guest count breakdown, read our comparison of a beer and wine bar vs full bar to select your menu style, or view our wedding bar setup checklist to coordinate your staffing needs.
Do your servers work alongside drop-off caterers or food trucks?
Yes. This is one of our most popular setups. Hosts buy drop-off catering or hire food trucks, and hire KBS servers to handle the setup, guest service, table clearing, and cleanup. This saves you money while preserving a premium hospitality experience.
What is the standard waitstaff attire?
Our standard uniform is professional black-on-black or white-on-black hospitality attire. This ensures a clean, polished appearance suitable for weddings, high-end private celebrations, and corporate mixers. We can accommodate themed attire by request.
How much does waitstaff or server staffing cost?
Our server staffing rates depend on the guest count, the number of servers, service hours, location, and service style (plated vs. buffet). Because each event requires different logistics, we provide custom packages. To learn more about server rates and factors, read our guide on event waitstaff cost in Southern California, or view general pricing details in our guide on mobile bartender cost in Southern California.
What areas in Southern California do you serve?
We provide waitstaff and event servers across San Diego County, Orange County, Los Angeles County, and the Inland Empire (including Riverside, San Bernardino, Temecula, and Murrieta). Standard travel fees may apply based on the location of your venue.
